Rooted directly below the rugged basalt slopes of Skinner Butte, this neighborhood marks the foundational birthplace of Eugene. Long before it evolved into a quiet residential enclave, the district hummed with the raw energy of the Pacific Northwest frontier.
Pioneers, lumbermen, and railway workers carved a livelihood out of the dense valley floor, shaping the timber and transit hub that put the Willamette Valley on the map. Today, preserved Queen Anne and Craftsman architecture stands as a testament to that spirited era, offering a peaceful connection to the city's earliest days.
